ZEE TV Awaaz Punjabi Achievers Awards recognizes the best and brightest of the community.
Any event that kicks off with a delicious glass of mango lassi ought to be an affair to remember. And so it was as more than 500 business leaders, socialites, politicos and guests converged in the spacious lobby of the Grand Empire Banquet Hall in Brampton, Ontario, on May 9, to honour some of the best and the brightest amongst the greater Toronto area's Punjabi community.
The ZEE TV Canada Awaaz Punjabi Achievers Awards 2014, hosted by Voice Media Group and presented by Brooke Bond, were executed seamlessly, with the meticulous attention to detail and clockwork execution that Voice Group events are known for.
Eight outstanding achievers were honoured during the evening that started with gifted violinist Grenville Pinto welcoming guests to their stylishly decorated tables in the main banquet hall.
As the energetic duo of Kiranpreet Cheema and Parminder Singh introduced the evening's proceedings, three traditionally attired men could be seen fidgeting at the other end of the stage. The spotlight revealed it to be Neeraj and his band of classical Indian musicians. Their renditions of popular classical pieces set the mood for the evening, with the crowd clapping and grooving to the beat.

Weekly Voice publisher Sudhir Anand and group editor Binoy Thomas gave a welcome and a sincere thanks to everyone involved. The awards, accolades and applause followed.
Ceremonies concluded with five secondary school students being awarded the Voice Group Scholarship Certificates worth $1000: Angela Gupta, Yameen Mirza, Janvahi Behal, Sunny Chawla and Miti Bhavsar.
There's every intention of the Voice Group to make this an annual affair. And as more and more members of the Punjabi community shine in the spotlight of their chosen fields, there’s all the more reason to celebrate. Congratulations to all! Find a full list of the winners below.
