If you think weightlifting won't get you into the shape that you want, then guess again.
Myth 1: Weightlifting Makes You Bulky
Lifting heavy things does not make you bulky and the same goes for lifting weights. Your muscles will grow STRONGER as a result of heavy lifting, but don't fret, you won’t turn into the Hulk. Body builders who take supplements and testosterone, in addition to eating more calories, will get bigger. A female however who can deadlift 200 pounds isn’t necessarily a Viking. Think wonderwoman, she can just as easily be a size 2 with great strength. Girly magazines use the word “tone” in place of “muscle” because of such common misconceptions, but toning = muscle building. If you lift weights properly (variety is key), and eat the right kinds of foods, the accumulation of muscle will burn fat. You’ll probably weigh more on the scale because muscle packs are denser, but takes up less space, assuring a slimmer waistline.
Myth 2: Weightlifting Increases Your Bust Size
Sorry ladies, but the more you lift, the more likely you are to drop a cup size. Women’s breasts are made up of mostly fatty tissue, and the operative word here is “fatty.” If you drop below 12 percent body fat, your breasts are most likely to decrease in size as the fat burns away.
The myth probably stems from the increase of back muscles, or the way many female weightlifters hold their posture. The only way you’ll increase your bust size is by gaining fat or getting implants.
Myth 3: If You Stop Weightlifting, You’ll Get Fat
Let’s begin by not confusing muscle and fat as the same thing. Muscle and fat are two completely different types of tissue, and saying that one can turn into the other is like saying you can turn rocks into gold. This means that when you start weight-training, you are not turning fat into muscle either. The reality is that once you stop lifting, you’ll also start losing muscle tone.
If you’re still eating the same way, or giving up on your diet or stop eating healthy, your metabolism won’t be able to keep up. You’ll start accruing fat deposits again. While it appears that muscle might be turning into fat, the truth is that as you lose muscle mass you’re also gaining fat.
Myth 4: Cardio Is The Only Way To Really Lose Weight
Wrong again. Cardio is a great way to workout, to burn fat but its not the way to gain muscle. Ever heard someone mention that you need money to make money? With your body it’s the same, except we use muscles instead of dollars.
You need some muscle to help you build muscle, and you need some fat to help you burn fat. The key to doing so is mixing up your workout routine, in addition to eating properly. Ever compared the physique of an Olympic runner to a weightlifter? The runner is using up both fat and muscle, and grows progressively leaner. Strength-training helps you build energy and it also targets spots all over your body to help you tone and sculpt beautiful muscles.
Let’s face it, there is something incredibly attractive and cool about a woman who can twist open a jar on her first try. Ladies if your labeled as one of hese hotties and use weights to work out, tell us what your workout regime is?
