Treat Yourself With An Early Escape
Sometimes a 9 to 5 routine can become a drag. There are ways in which you can avoid being bogged down and unproductive at work with just a matter of efficient time management, then you're off to enjoy a great night.
Heidi Hanna, author of The Sharp Solution, tells Woman’s Day, “Being productive is more than just checking off boxes on to-do lists. It’s bringing our full and best energy to the time we have to do our work well.” While we can’t take tasks off your plate, these energizing tips will make you more efficient—and give you extra time to do the things you love.”
Shut Off Your Smart Phone
While smart phones can come in handy for something like an easy Google search, a Facebook check, or responding to messages, these gadgets are also distracting- and reduce productivity in the long run. According to Lydia Lacey of Cloudy with a Chance of Mobile, you should turn off notifications when you are working so that you are not distracted when trying to focus and get your work done. Jan Bruce of Forbes Magazine also suggests that we should rethink the urge we get to check our cellphones. Bruce recommends that you ask yourself the following question – what will be gained if you check your phone right now?
Change Work Location
If you are looking for a change and are allowed to work from home, it is recommended that you take your work elsewhere. Not only will you enjoy a change in location, but this move will help you work better. According to a 2012 Journal of Consumer Research article, moderate background noise such as a coffee shop or library to increase productivity. Furthermore, change in work location will also allow you to become more efficient in meeting deadlines, working on pending projects without being distracted from socializing at the work place!
Let It Go
Sometimes we hope to achieve a lot more at work, but there are only so many hours in a day. Joel Garfinkle tells Women’s Health Magazine that, once in a while, you need to allow yourself a break; you may not always meet the goals you had planned to. It is important to return to your assignment, the following day, so that you have had enough time to complete the work. This way work is done well, rather than rushed after you have exhausted yourself.
