Stars in both Hollywood and Bollywood have received a lot of media attention surrounding their decisions to become parents.
The most recent buzz around Bollywood has been drawn to the King of Romance – the Baadshah of Bollywood – Shah Rukh Khan, who will be having his third baby with his wife, Gauri Khan through surrogacy. The controversy begun when rumors churned that Shah Rukh Khan had taken up sex- selection via IVF for the baby due in July.
MidDay reports:The insider allegedly claims, “The baby is a boy, so Suhana will now have another brother after Aryan. It was entirely Gauri’s decision to go in for surrogacy.
Even though the couple has not confirmed the news, a radiologists’ association has sought an immediate probe into the news, pointing out that finding out the sex of a baby before it is born is illegal in India.

As reported in the Hindustan Times , responding to the sex-determination test allegation levelled by an NGO against him, actor Shah Rukh Khan, in an email, informed the civic body that he had not given any statement on surrogacy.
"The complaint was filed on the basis of news reports which claimed that the couple had commissioned a surrogate mother and the unborn child is a boy. Now that he has denied giving any such statement in the media, we are looking for the doctor who may have leaked out the information," said a senior health official.
The couple that have been married for almost 22 years and have two children, Aryan (15) and Suhana (13). He consulted the same doctor that his nemesis and arch-rival, Aamir Khan and his wife, Kiran Rao.
According to Times of India, On December 1st, 2011 Aamir Khan and his wife, Kiran Rao welcomed their son. In a rare case, the couple was very open about their decision to undergo pregnancy through IVF (In-vitro Fertilization) pregnancy and had released a letter, which underlined their gratefulness to the advances in medical sciences that enabled them to have a child after Rao had a miscarriage and test results left to the couple in need of a surrogate mother to become parents.
Infertility specialist Dr. Aniruddha Malpani, "Celebs play a big role in influencing societal attitudes and the fact that Aamir Khan has used surrogacy to have a baby and has issued a press release stating this publicly means that many other infertile couples will want to learn more about this option.” However, he points out there are dangers to this practice, “The danger is that many other infertile couples will follow blindly in his footsteps. Surrogacy can be misused, overused and abused.”
Although these actors are internationally recognized stars, the stars face the same problems like us. To name a few, infertility and weight issues are among the most prominent ones that continue to be in the limelight.
Surrogacy continues to be viewed as a taboo still in society but it has been gaining popularity among stars especially women. Powerful and well-known icons like Aishwarya Rai, Jessica Simpson, Halley Berry, and Kim Kardashian have been criticized for their post-pregnancy weight gain.
According towww.dailymail.co.uk, Aishwarya Rai, faced a lot of criticism by her fans that claimed that it was her “duty” to lose weight for her fans. To which, Rai who was cool and calm retorted back that she was in no hurry to lose her weight and enjoy the bliss of motherhood. A disturbing video was released of her called “Aishwarya Rai’s shocking weight gain” and which was accompanied with uncomfortable elephant sounds mocking her weight gain.

Actress Sonali Bendre recently came to Aishwarya's defense and requested people to just let her be. Bendre said, "People are being too harsh on her. She has just had a baby. She deserves a break. Please let her be. Let her enjoy this happy phase of her life."
According to www.Dailymail.co.uk, Kim Kardashian’s weight gain during her pregnancy also sparked controversy in Hollywood, which led to many women including her sister, Khloe, and the Sopranos star Jamie-Lynn Sigler defend criticism that Kardashian received.
In an interview with Andy Cohen, host of Bravo TV show Watch What Happens Live, she said, “I feel really bad for her. It’s hard being pregnant. Your body does change.” She continued voicing her support, “she’s doing her best and I think she looks beautiful. I mean she’s carrying a baby; I feel bad for her.”
