For the second year in a row, TIFF's Festival Street entertained film lovers with a four-day long open street festival fit for family, friends and filmgoers.
“We’re thrilled to have brought back all the free Festival Street fun for another year,” said Cameron Bailey, artistic director of TIFF. “TIFF is informally known as the ‘people’s festival’ and Festival Street is one of our most accessible initiatives. Full of film-themed free programming, it’s an opportunity for everyone to have their own special festival experience.”
There was a lot of activities and activation booths to keep everyone entertained. Festival Street highlights included:

The music stage this year offered a free concert series which featured one-hour music sets by Toronto-based band Ascot Royals, DJ Sunclef and Bruce Peninsula and also featured an interactive evening multi-media performance called NARI by Gingger Shankar, Dave Liang and Sun Yunfan. The music performers also included Mohammed Assaf, the first Arab Idol winner.
Food Truck Village
Of course, it wouldn't be an outdoor street festival without food. And for the first time ever, TIFF launched Food Truck Village at Pearl and John Streets in Toronto's entertainment district, which featured a selection of the city's top mobile vendors with delicious offerings ranging from tasty vegan and sweet treats to meaty paradise and savoury delights. Trucks included bgood’s hand crafted fast foods, Chimney Stax authentic Hungarian desserts, Heirloom’s local and sustainable snacks, Toronto's first BBQ themed truck – Hogtown Smoke, Koi Gourmet’s Korean fusion cuisine and Localista, the farm-to-street inspired food truck.

If the PanAm games showed us one thing, it's that everyone loves taking pictures in front of signs, as was the case with the large Toronto sign in Nathan Phillips Square. Of course, just like last year, TIFF rolled out its iconic orange logo and placed it right at the foot of King Street West. Pedestrians, bystanders and film lovers lined up to take photos with the iconic sign and share it across all their social media feeds.

While many of us are waiting in anticipation for the Andy Warhol exhibition by TIFF in late October, the festival has given Warhol lovers a teasing taste of the upcoming exhibition. Film lovers got to experience an Andy Warhol photo booth installation that allowed guests to take photos in true Warhol style.
