These meals demand a higher price than most of us would ever dream of paying.
Would you pay almost $100,000 for dinner? Well believe it or not there are people out there that would. Check out our list below, noted as the best of the best. Why? The justification for the high price tag is due to the rarity and the amount of time involved before the items/products/food are ready to be sold on the market. Feast your eyes on some of the most expensive foods in the world.
Breakfast
Zillion Dollar Frittata/ cntraveler
For breakfast we start off with a healthy fruit. The Brisbane market community in Australia auctioned off 12 first-harvest mangoes for $50,000 as part of an annual fundraising event. The price per mango? A sweet $4,200. Few filaments of Indian saffron worth $2000 per pound and its fit for a king.
For our main course, we have a Zillion Dollar Lobster Frittata from Norma's Restaurant in New York, featuring a 1-pound lobster covered with egg on a bed of fried potatoes and topped with 10 ounces of caviar. This dish is valued at $1,000.
Lunch
The first appetizer is Pule from Zasavica Special Nature Reserve in Serbia. It takes 25 litres of donkey’s milk to make only one kilogram of this cheese and it costs $700 per pound. The second appetizer wins for most expensive loaf of bread. It’s the Shepherd Loaf from Hobbs House Bakery in Cotswolds, U.K., that’s worth $35 a piece.
The first course is Almas from the Caviar House & Prunier in London. This rare caviar from Iran is sold in a 24-karat gold tin can, and the price for one can is $25,000.
A Wagyu rib-eye steak from the former Craftsteak in New York costs $2,800. These cows get the royal treatment and are fed beer and regularly massaged for meat tenderness and marbling characteristics.
As for the most expensive soup, the award goes to Anqi Pho Soup from Tiato restaurant in Santa Monica, CA. It contains Wagyu beef, white alba truffles, a foie gras broth, hand-raised bean sprouts and blue lobster meat noodles – that's $5,000.
The second course meal features the world’s most expensive bacon sandwich, The Bacon Bling from Tangberry's café in Cheltenham, U.K. Made from a rare breed of bacon, black truffles, truffle oil, gold leaf, gold dust and saffron, it cost about $235.
No lunch is complete without dessert. The most expensive cake slice goes to the Duke and Duchess of Windsor's 1937 wedding cake that was auctioned off in 1998 for $29,900.
Dinner
For our appetizer, the Florette Sea and Earth Salad from the Hempel Hotel in London contains beluga caviar, grated truffle, potatoes with gold leaf, Cornish crab and lobster and 30-year old balsamic vinegar. It rings in at $1,013.
The first course is Angelito Araneta's Golden Sushi from Manila. Wrapped in gold leaf, encrusted with African diamonds and topped with Mikimoto pearls, it’s almost too pretty to eat and probably too expensive at $2,700 for four pieces.
The second course features Albarragena Jamon Iberico De Bellota ham. The pigs are fed on acorns and roots, then slaughtered and cured for three years. This course comes out at $2,682.
For dessert, we have The Frrrozen Haute Chocolate Ice Cream from Serendipity 3 in New York. It's served in a golden goblet, lined with white diamonds and a gold spoon. It costs $25,000.
The dinner bill comes out to $31,395, bringing our total bill for today’s extreme dining to an extravagant $95,065.
