Akshay Kumar and Nimrat Kaur's trailer for their brand-new film, Airlift, has been released. Airlift is directed by Raja Krishna Menon and based on the real-life incidents that took place in the Gulf country Kuwait in 1990.
The film is set to release in January 2016. It depicts the biggest evacuation of Indians, when the Iraq-Kuwait war was in full force. Iraq was being run by Saddam Hussein at the time and was in debt of around $80 billion because of its long conflict with Iran. Iraq wanted the OPEC (Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries), and more so Kuwait, to reduce oil production and create a scarcity, leading to an increase in oil prices. This would have helped Iraq with its money problems, but both OPEC and Kuwait refused, leading to war.
Akshay loves to take on roles that have an edge — much like he did in the recent Baby and Gabbar Is Back. In Airlift, he plays an Indian businessman who sees himself as a Kuwaiti rather than Indian but who becomes the man that all the other Indians look to as a saviour.
We're sure that, like in most Akshay Kumar films, he will be using some riveting monologs to stir up the crowds. We decided to look at the top ten Akshay Kumar lines from his previous films.
1. Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobara
2013
2. Tees Maar Khan
2010
Tees Maar Khan is a heist comedy film directed by Farah Khan. It stars Katrina Kaif as Akshay Kumar's love interest. Akshay plays both serious roles and comedies well, and Tees Maar Khan is one of his funniest comedies. It's full of tongue-in-cheek lines. One of the funniest in the film in "Kutte se mooh se haddi aur Tees Maar Khan ki noton ki gaddi, dono hi cheenana bekar hai!" He is definitely the king of comedy in Bollywood, and there were many other funny lines throughout the film.
3. Ab Tumhara Hawale Watan Saathiyo
2004
Anil Sharma's patriotic war film not only shows Akshay's action side but also shows us an incredible poet. With a number of hit shayaris within the film that also starred Amitabh Bachchan and Bobby Deol, it was also full of many interesting lines.
4. Rowdy Rathore
2012
5. Desi Boyz
2012
7. OMG – Oh My God
2012
8. Singh Is Kinng
2008
Another action comedy with Akshay Kumar in the lead role, this one is directed by Anees Bazmee and stars Katrina Kaif in the lead opposite our comedian. Being known as the King would be difficult for many actors, but not for our star. Akshay plays the role fantastically and makes you laugh throughout the film.
2004
10. Namastey London
2007
Akshay Kumar is known for immersing himself in his roles, and very little dubbing is needed when this actor is involved. Unlike Katrina, whose Hindi was terrible at the time of shooting Namastey London, Akshay has been praised for the patriotic speech he gives in the film.
Which of Akshay's lines is your favourite? Let us know in the comments below!
