Looking to shake up your hair colour game? Give this hottest new colouring trend a try!
With the influx of new hair trends every year, I decided to give my hair the balayage treatment. The term is derived from the French meaning to sweep or paint. It is a softer, freehand technique that avoids the use of foil. It’s a bit like ombre but a more free flowing technique that creates soft smooth lines.
I decided to get a copper look, something more along the lines of red and brown. Paul Pereira, Schwarzkopf Professional Essential Looks Artist and Erin Deluca, Schwarzkopf Professional Technical Advisor, were the two creative minds behind giving my hair the much needed makeover.
First, my hair was prelightened using a balayage technique and then toned with Schwarzkopf Igora Vibrance ($36 CDN) 1/2 of 6.7 and 1/2 of 7.77 (cinnamon). Igora Vibrance is an ammonia-free, demi-permanent line which gives a luminous and vibrant colour with irresistible shine.
My hair was then treated with products from the Schwarzkopf BC Color Freeze line, which was reformulated in 2015 to give zero colour fade for up to 12 washes.
I would really recommend the entire Schwarzkopf BC Color Freeze line for colour maintenance and styling, in particular the CC Cream which protects hair during styling, reduces frizz and keeps hair colour from fading. I have been using the BC Color Freeze Rich shampoo ($14.95 CDN), BC Color Freeze conditioner ($15.95 CDN) and BC Color Freeze CC Cream ($17.75 CDN) regularly along with the weekly mask which instantly softens my hair and retains the colour.
So far, I love my balayage look and I can’t wait to touch it up soon. The benefits of having balayage instead of ombre is that you don’t have to worry about the colour growing out and looking out of place as the balayage treatment created soft lines avoiding any haphazard look after a few weeks.
