Cheat Sheet On Getting The Best Deals During Spring Break
Spring Break falls in the peak travel season — a total nightmare for deal hunters looking for an affordable party destination. But fear not! Here are some tips and tricks to help you plan that perfect getaway.
Online Tricks
Doesn't it seem that every time you look for flights or hotels online, the price always jumps up the second time you check out the same deal? This is because the travel website recognizes your search from your first visit. It knows that you're visiting again since you're very interested — so it rushes you to make a purchase right away out of fear that, with every consecutive visit, the price will increase. So make sure, when you're shopping for a vacation online, that you clear your web browser every time you search. You can also search in "incognito mode" — which means your location and history are hidden. If you hide your identity, the travel website has no record that you've visited before and the prices tend not to fluctuate as much.
Know Your Travel Providers
All travel companies have weekly deals. The trick is to get to know them really well. WestJet has sales on Tuesdays. Start following them on Twitter and Facebook to get notifications for surprise sales. Sunwing usually has Tax Buster sales on U.S. and Caribbean vacations — plus a specially priced deal every Wednesday that's worth a peek. Visit your travel providers' websites often to keep track of these promotions.
Compare Prices
It's really important to compare prices across airlines and vacations to make sure you're getting the best deal. Expedia, Kayak, Flight Centre, and Flight Network are also worth a look. Be sure to check Trip Advisor, read traveller reviews and view pictures before booking.
Budget-Friendly Destinations
Our last tip is to pick a vacation spot where drinks are fairly cheap, excursions are affordable and the view is fantastic.
Goa, India, is a popular destination for locals and foreigners alike. The cost of living is cheap, they have plenty of bars and parties — beaches offer chair and bar service — and drinks can cost under a hundred rupees!
In Cancun, Mexico, you can save tons by booking an all-inclusive vacation — everything from your flight and the ride to and from the airport to food and alcoholic drinks is included. The best part is that you have access to the resort's beach parties, disco and kayaks.
Florida, the U.S., is another popular destination for spring break — with lots of visitors from schools and universities in the U.S. There's no shortage of party boats, pool parties and fun in the sun!
