Spotted: Bollywood Starlets Aishwarya, Katrina and Sonam, Funny Girl Mindy and celebrity chef Vikas Khanna at Cannes.
If you’re a movie buff or fashionista, the 68th Cannes Film Festival, which runs from May 13–24, is the place to be. Stars from all over the globe make their way to the prestigious festival to hit up some of the best premieres and, most importantly, to be seen.
This year was no exception. Among the slew of beautiful faces, South Asian representatives were in full force, mainly courtesy of L’Oréal Paris (one of the major sponsors), whose ambassadors Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor and first-timer to the Cannes red carpet Katrina Kaif represented. Freida Pinto was not able to attend due to her shooting schedule for Andy Serkis's The Jungle Book, which is being filmed in South Africa. Other notable faces were comedian, writer and producer Mindy Kaling, actress Mallika Sherawat and celebrity chef Vikas Khanna, just to name a few.
Among the plethora of press junket looks and red carpet wowzers, we outline some of our faves that stood out at this year’s Cannes.
Katrina Kaif
Press Day

The Bollywood actress wore a crisp black and white Milly ensemble for her first Cannes appearance.
Red Carpet

The newcomer attended her first Cannes red carpet during the opening night wearing a dramatic strapless lace-inspired Oscar De La Renta gown at the premiere of La tête haute.

She then attended the Mad Max: Fury Road premiere in a fiery red Elie Saab rather conservative long-sleeved gown but she still rocked it.
Mallika Sherawat
The actress opted for a similar hue to the same premiere with this Alexis Mabille gown. What we loved was the impressive pink cape that was accessorized with a Boucheron diamond neck piece.
Masaan Screening

Both Masaan ladies opted for Indian outfits. Shweta Tripathi chose an elegant violet Payal Singhal lehenga, while Richa Chadha played up a floral green Sabyasachi sari.
Evening Look
Richa was a vision in gold during a dinner hosted by Thierry (festival director) wearing a gold Rohit Khanna Rahul Gandhi number.
Sonam Kapoor
Day Wear
While the actress wore a number of day looks, these we loved most. Couldn't resist the puff sleeves of the Ulyana dress, the ruffles on the sari and her A-line silhouette seen at the India Pavilion for the launch of chef Vikas Khanna’s latest book, Utsav.

We know Sonam got a lot of flack from the media with this yellow Elie Saab creation, but you've got to admit it's pretty adventurous. The gown featured pockets and plenty of feather trim which did the trick in demanding media attention.

To all the haters out there, the actress sure enough made up for her earlier chicken-esque ensemble with this gorgeous royal blue Ralph & Russo couture spring 2014 gown at the Sea of Trees premiere. The elaborate gathering at her hips — très chic!
After Party
Sonam also attended the Chopard party at Cannes wearing an Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla creation that we felt had an edgy Spanish take.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
Day Wear
Aish donned a number of day looks, but these stood out as clear favourites. Not very many ladies can pull of head-to-toe floral, but Aish worked the colourful jumpsuit and matching cape beautifully at the UN panel discussion about gender equality during Cannes. We also loved the refreshing androgynous take of her during press meets with the Stella wide-leg pant, and who could forget the glamorous George Chakra fishnet gown she posted on her social media interaction day with L’Oréal?

And for her second, she wowed in a strapless Ralph & Russo couture gown featuring dramatic ruffles fit only for the red carpet.

The beauty icon’s big comeback movie, Jazbaa, was also launched at Cannes, where moviegoers were treated to the first look. The actress wore an Oscar De La Renta marsala (Pantone's colour of the year) gown to the affair.
Mindy Kaling
Press Day Look
The comedian, writer, actress and producer hit up the press conference for the film Inside Out wearing a printastic Alexander McQueen fit-and-flare knee-length dress paired with Payal Shah’s LDEZEN jewelry.

Our fave funny girl made her red carpet appearance wearing one of her favourite go-to designers, Salvador Perez, for the premiere of Inside Out. The gown featured over 3,000 hand-sewn crystals.
Vikas Khanna

The celebrity chef, who launched his latest book during Cannes, was spotted in a dapper three-piece royal blue pant suit, an Archana Kochhar creation.
