Our Top 5 Moments of Orange Is The New Black Season 3
Whether you watched Orange is the New Black's latest season within 72 hours (guilty as charged!) or spaced it out like a person with admirable willpower, you likely found that Season 3 took a much lighter and funnier turn than ever before. We had new prisoners that had us swooning, a burgeoning religion around Norma and more of Piper being her annoying Piper-self. Here are our top moments from this season. Spoilers below.
1. Hello, hottie!
It took just a wink from Ruby Rose in the initial trailer to get fans into a collective frenzy. Once we met Rose's character, Stella, who speaks with a gorgeous Aussie accent and is unapologetic about her sexuality, we were smitten, as was Piper! Rose was able to start a thoughtful dialogue around gender fluidity with her stunning video, which she produced and starred in, "Break Free." But all we can say is bring her back instead of Alex, please.
2. Red and Healy: Our OTP?
This storyline caught us by surprise because, generally, Healy is a terrible counsellor and Red is pretty fearsome. But somehow we 'ship it. When Red was defending Healy's honour to his wife, Katja, and when he gifted her with veggies for her feast, this couple was a tentative romance. But the chemistry and yearning looks during Morello's wedding had us rooting for them.
3. Why, Bennett?
Actor Matt McGorry recently caught some flak from passionate fans of the show who went to extreme levels to voice their shock by cursing him out on Instagram when Bennett scarpered early on from Daya's life. However, the showrunners have been slowly chipping away at Bennett's shining persona, and this season, we saw the evidence of his cowardice while at his army base.
4. Boo and Pennsatucky, BFFs 4EVA
We wholeheartedly loved this new friendship that blossomed between these two outsiders. Pennsatucky was largely horrifying during the past two seasons, but it was through her friendship with Boo that we got to see her funny side. And we definitely have a soft spot for her now after all the painful experiences we've see in her backstory.
5. The Time-Hump Chronicles
Move aside, EL James, Litchfield Prison has a new author of erotica: Suzanne "Crazy Eyes" Warren. Suzanne's erotic fiction was hilariously filthy and bawdy, and a certain Space Admiral Rodcocker resembles Donaldson the prison guard. From earning legions of fans across the prison to giving Poussey some hope to carry on, Suzanne's fiction is something we'd also love to read!
