Fur, fauna & experimental fabrics ruled Milan’s 2014 F/W runways.
While London might welcome wintery weather with wools, Milan Fashion Week wrapped up with fur, fauna, and the Italian specialty of creative weaving. Different weights, textures and blends were woven or otherwise seamlessly blended.
Whether you’re pro fur or against it, Bottega Veneta, Marni, Aquilano Romindi, Dolce & Gabbana among others, proved that Milan was the city for furry fashion this year.

Prada rocked a 1980’s German “Lola” feel with lingerie, sheer and silken dresses as well as black, red and gold men's shearling coats. In her own words: "It is high and low, sophisticated and slightly vulgar." Marni too hit up furry friends with contemporary color-block versions. Bottega Veneta flipped shearling inside-out for a sleeker look while Aquilano Rimondi added mink pockets to their organza dresses.

British tv personality Cheryl Cole kept the world up to speed with a running twitter-report of her time in Milan which helped keep track of Dolce & Gabbana’s forest creature and floral appliques spotted in velvets and felts. The fur lined hoods – a nod to “Brothers Grimm fairytale” while Antonio Marras’s “Little Red Riding Hood” inspired collection represented a more light hearted representation of wolves with the heavy color palette of blacks and reds contrasted by whites, pops of turquoises and pastel pink.

Romantic undertones carried over to Aquilano Rimondi’s velvet rose-patterned hems and oversized tweed coats, which were finished in sparkled and glazed wools. Max Mara was all sensible with an English countryside style and comfortably subdued urban colors.

Celebs on the runway: fashion cowgirl Naomi Cambell’s six-pack and her 25-year-run with Dolce & Gabbana impressed us unlike Katie Perry who's tardiness did not impress the crowd at Moschino’s brand-tastic “Fast Fashion” show. The singer was close to being booed offstage.

Selena Gomez showed up in sexy, dominatrix-esque black dress for Versace, whose gowns continue to wow the fashion world. This season we saw a mix of geometric pieced silk satins, sultry pantsuits and ornate cabaret style cocktail dresses.

Blake Lively looked impeccable as always in a figure-hugging leather halter dress at Gucci. For urban chic with a bit more flair, we’re betting that Aussie pop-singer Kylie Minogue, and actress Jada Pinkett Smith loved Emilio Pucci’s Rococo designs fused with sexy city-style in the form of mini dresses and thigh-high boots as much as we did.
