Move over Kardashians! There's a new family in town and they're cool, brown and breaking down the status quo . . . woohoo!
Meet the Keswanis! They certainly aren't your average family and they are going to take over your computer screens in no time. So why should the Keswanis be your new obsession and how can you meet and learn more about them? It's easy!
On October 30, People.com announced the launch of a new web-series featuring the Keswanis aptly titled The Keswanis: A Most Modern Family. The new web-series will showcase and chronicle the day in and day out of the family – from the mother's struggles to send their eldest to college, their daughter's not-so-accepted entry into the pageant world, and the interesting tale that is the life of their youngest child, the Keswani family sure are an interesting bunch.
So why are the Keswanis being called "the most modern family?" Well, because there is MUCH more than what meets the eye.
Here's why…
Let's get the most obvious factor out of the way first. The Keswanis are South Asians, thus representing a visible miniority in North America. Isn't it absolutely amazing to see South Asians out there representin'? This certainly is our time when it comes to mainstream media. It isn't just about "Jai Ho" and Quantico, we offer so much more for the world to see and the Keswanis are a good example of that.
Aside from being a typical South Asian family judging solely on what we see, the Keswanis challenge the status quo. The family is comprised of two parents and three children, each child adding a new dimension to what it means to be a family in this modern world we live in today, and supportive parents that help redefine the cultural and social definitions that identify a traditional South Asian family.

The superstar of the family and most recognized is the eldest child, Nik, who is 17 years old. Nik is also known on social media as "Big Nick" and has garned superstar status on his Vine account with over 2.7 million followers. Nik suffers from a rare form of dwarfism but offers hysterical parodies and skits on his vine account about his family and their dynamic.

Fifteen-year-old Sarina is the second eldest in the family and desires to establish a career in the modelling world. She's also an aspiring pageant queen just like her mother, who was a former pageant queen herself.

And the youngest, and the most interesting is six-year-old Devina, a transgendered girl finding her way in the world at a young age but with supportive parents.

When was the last time you came across a South Asian family with open doors to their home and in full support of their children's gender transitioning, budding media career or pageant entries?
Isn't all this awesome?! This is certainly the South Asian family of the century. Let's welcome the Keswanis with open arms!
