What Tinsel town has in store for Fall.

As a cool and sunny week comes to an end in Toronto, the grandeur of Hollywood North finds themselves still amidst the glitter n' hustle that is LGFW fall 2010–or at least so I'm told. Still out here in the real Hollywood, (California, that is) I was fortunate enough–thanks to my new bffs at Concept LA Fashion Week- to catch a glimpse, or rather, a crash-course on LA style. As always, fashionistas, I’ve got you covered for a fall preview of LAFW, stay tuned for full international trend coverage to follow in our much anticipated Fall 2010-FASHION-themed issue of Anokhi Mag.

One wouldn't expect darkness to fall over the sunshine state with the turn of the season, but much to my surprise, LAFW boasted rich jewel tones, charcoaled metallics and earthy hues. Fabrics comprised of cottons, jersey, over-rated organza, silk, leather, fur and tweed blends, were not complete without aggressive adornments in pearls, zippers, rosettes and knots.
GIRLS
I'm convinced the quintessential California girl has outgrown boho-chic, and (thankfully) trading in her Ugs and peace signs, for a pair of peep-toe booties and a bad attitude. Palettes have faded to black and I’m picking up on a renaissance gypsy grunge-goddess vibe, complete with sexually-charged overtones, much to my delight. Designer Chelsea Rebelle treats the runway to peek-a-boo vintage fabrics in merlot-inspired hues, charmed with texture and tailoring. Functional accessories take the stage in knitted swim caps, gloves, knee socks and boots. She's vamp, she's edgy, she is still rock n’ roll to me.
BOYS
Spinning off from the previous seasons, silhouettes remain structured and complex with intelligent layers of contrasting fabrics. Menswear-of-the-hour, designer B:Scott stole the show with ghetto-fabulous urban street wear. At first glimpse, the juxtaposed union of double-collar hoodie couture meets waxed denim, screams inner-city-chic-(if such a thing exists), but as your eyes meet link after link of chain, feather and roped sash dressings, you begin to Believe. Well-tailored wool jackets, hoodies and cardigans-complete with brooch, consummate one of the most refreshing menswear collections I’ve seen to date.
