‘Jatt & Juliet 2’ has officially become a movie franchise worth noting. The recent box office records recorded by ‘Jatt and Juliet 2’ made huge news throughout the entertainment world.
It’s not easy to comprehend how much of a success this film had without noting some of the major achievements. After not only the highest opening day, but highest second day, ‘Jatt and Juliet’ became the first ever Punjabi Film to earn over 9 Crore in an opening weekend. Within the opening weekend, ‘Jatt & Juliet 2’ has already become the 8th largest grossing film in Punjabi history- yes; you read that right, in the opening weekend.
The film set a new benchmark in the United Kingdom and the rest of the world, as it broke all box office records for Punjabi cinema. This success not only creates great buzz for the film but opens doors for more South Asian movies being made in the near future. The biggest note to take away from the film’s success is not the success it had in India but the tremendous buzz it had over the entire globe. Though this film had great hype from the first ‘Jatt and Juliet’, it’s nice to see the sequel not only live up but surpass the expectations while breaking records along the way.
This achievement sets new precedents for upcoming Punjabi films. Further bolstering the Punjabi industry’s name and rank worldwide, in the UK, Jatt & Juliet 2, presented by Tip Top Entertainment in the area, took an unparalleled £83,000 across 13 locations – one of the biggest debuts in the history of Punjabi Cinema. US and Canada took $389,000 across 34 locations; Australia contributed $245,000; New Zealand attributed $40,000; while domestically, India collected 4 Crores 60 lakhs.
In addition, ‘Jatt and Juliet took the number 2 spot on the UK top-10 charts in print average, only trailing ‘Despicable me 2’-an achievement a Punjabi film has never accomplished.
So what makes ‘Jatt and Juliet 2’ so record breaking? The plot is extremely entertaining from start to finish; it has the audience laughing and giggling throughout, one reviewer notes. The same reviewer points out the punches/dialogues of the film as being a highlight-saying some of the actors such as Fateh De Patte and Hadban te Chaped are bound for stardom. One of the major reasons for success of a film is the one liners and jokes you take away from the movie and this film has plenty of jokes that will stick in your memory for a long time.
The reviewer also points out the chemistry between the lead pair as very solid with good performances by the supporting cast. Also worth noting is the performance by Diljit as Fateh Singh, whose lovable cop character is surely to be a role that will be nothing less than a landmark role in his career.
This family oriented, entertaining, record breaking and most likely soon to be award winning film is a must see feel good film for the summer which will leave the audience laughing at golden moments throughout the film.
'Jatt and Juliet 2' is currently in cinemas, produced by White Hill Productions and presented by Tip Top entertainment in the UK. Check out the sizzling trailer below.
