Is One Direction Splitting Up Or Taking A Break?
The One Direction break was inevitable, but the boys insist they will be back.
One Direction was formed on The X Factor back in 2010 under the mentorship of Simon Cowell after the boys failed as solo artists. And after five years together, Zayn Malik decided to leave the band and try and form a solo career.
Zayn said at the time, "My life with One Direction has been more than I could ever have imagined. But, after five years, I feel like it is now the right time for me to leave the band. I'd like to apologise to the fans if I've let anyone down, but I have to do what feels right in my heart. I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight. I know I have four friends for life in Louis, Liam, Harry and Niall. I know they will continue to be the best band in the world."
The rest of the 1D band decided to stick together, stating "We're really sad to see Zayn go, but we totally? respect his decision and send him all our love for the future. The past five years have been beyond amazing, we've gone through so much together, so we will always be friends. The four of us will now continue. We're looking forward to recording the new album and seeing all the fans on the next stage of the world tour."
Following this statement, the boys worked hard in the studio and released a new track, "Drag Me Down," which is currently sitting at number 10 on the "Big Top 40" on Capital Radio and number 8 on the iTunes Chart. One Direction is working towards the release of their fifth studio album, set to come out at the end of the year, and are currently touring with their On The Road Again Tour. They were seen in Chicago on Sunday night with the following nine dates in North America and another 25 concerts in the United Kingdom and Ireland, including six at the O2 arena.

After this tour and the release of the album, it has been confirmed that the boys will take a break. But they have taken to Twitter to confirm that they will regroup.
Although One Direction fans are upset with the break, they have shown their support for the band via Twitter.
The real question now is who actually believes One Direction will get back together in the future? Do people even care?
