Meaghan Elizabeth: How long have you been blogging?
Syed Sohail: I have been blogging for two years publically. However, I launched my blog, The Prep Guy, two and a half years ago.
ME: What is it about fashion that initially caught your interest?
SS: Fashion initially caught my interest a few years ago when I landed my first job during high school. Prior to that, I didn’t pay too much attention to what I wore. However, once I became invested, I fell in love with fashion and it became a big part of how I expressed myself.
ME: Describe your style in five words.
SS: Classic, authentic, unique, functional, preppy.
ME: Who are your favourite menswear designers?
SS: My favourite menswear designers would have to be Stefano Pilati of Ermenegildo Zegna, Simon Spurr of Kent & Curwen, and Michael Maccari of Perry Ellis.
ME: What fall/winter style trend(s) are you most excited about?
SS: The Canadian tuxedo (denim on denim), which is now coming back stronger than ever before. I love how there are so many different ways that people can wear this trend, especially when it is dressed up with a shirt and tie. Other trends that I think are going to be huge include coloured suiting for men, in fall/winter colour palettes such as burgundy, burnt orange, olive green and tartan. Printed/intricately detailed sweaters are going be major for both men and women, including prints, embellishments, fabric combinations . . . The basic sweater will not suffice this season.

ME: What do you enjoy most about blogging?
SS: I love having the ability to express myself to my audience, and having thousands of people join my journey through life. I also enjoy working with brands on marketing campaigns, since I am a marketing student in school.
ME: What advice do you have for fans and followers who want to start their own blog?
SS: I believe that anyone starting a blog should definitely have a plan as to how they would like to utilize this platform. I believe that having a sense of direction, strong business skills and lasting authenticity are the key factors that can lead a new blog to becoming a successful venture.
