From lawn bowling to wrestling the 2014 Commonwealth Games feature 17 sports and 11 days of competing all in one host city, this year being Glasgow, Scotland.
There are 6,500 athletes and officials from 71 different nations and territories competing against each other in order to be the very best. The games also feature a range of cultural and arts events open for everyone to enjoy.
The first games were held in 1930 in Hamilton, Canada, where 11 countries participated with 400 athletes competing in six sports. Since 1930 the Commonwealth games have been held every four years (excluding 1942 and 1946 during the second world war).
India is currently ranked in 5th place overall in the medal table with 22 medals so far, including 6 gold, 9 silver and 7 bronze.
India's Men's team have won 3 gold, 3 silver, and 3 bronze. The women's teams has won 3 gold, 6 silver and 4 bronze, but India has not won any medals so far in the mixed events.
Day 1, India's Khumukcham Sanjita won the gold in the 48 kg women's weightlifting category with a total weight of 173. India's Mirabai Chanu also managed to take home a silver in the event with a total of 170. With 3 medals won on the first day of the event.

India took home seven medals on the second day of the games, in shooting, weightlifting and judo. The Indian team also saw glorious results from the boxing circuit as Vijender Singh and Manoj Kumar won their bouts on day 2.
On the 3rd day of the games India managed to get a hold of seven medals. India's shooters Apurvi Chandela and Rahi Sarnobat each received a gold medal.
Ayonika Paul, Prakash Nanjappa and Anisa Sayyed each claimed a silver medal.
India's Rajwinder Kaur took home a bronze in the women's +78 kg judo competition, while Omkar Otari won a bronze medal in the men's 69 kg competition.

Day 4 of the CWG, India adds five more medals to their tally with Shreyasi Singh and Mohammed Asab winning silver and bronze in shooting, and Sathish Sivalingam and Katulu Ravi Kumar winning gold and silver in weightlifting. Punam Yadav winning bronze.

In shooting, India's shooter Mohammed Asab wins the bronze medal in the Men's Double Trap event, defeating Malta's Nathan Xuereb. Shooter Shreyasi Singh won the silver medal in the Women's Double Trap event with the total score on 92 points.
Punam Yadav took home a bronze medal in the Women's weightlifting 63 kg category. She lifted a whopping total of 202 kg to snag India's 7th bronze medal. Indians Vandna Gupta finished fourth with a total lift of 198 kg.

A lot is to be expected of India's contingent of 215 athletes at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2014. The host nation of Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games finished second place on the medals table in the last edition.
