India In A Day: Google Teams Up With Ridley Scott, Richie Mehta & Anurag Kashyap
Lifestyle Oct 07, 2015
Google is partnering with Ridley Scott, Richie Mehta and Anurag Kashyap to launch the latest version of the “…In A Day" franchise with India in a Day.
India in a Day is a project that will allow filmmakers all across India to capture video footage of their day in India on October 10th. The project is being fueled by Google and has three filmmakers on board: Ridley Scott, Canada's very own, and a friend of ANOKHI MEDIA, Richie Mehta, and the critically acclaimed director Anurag Kashyap.

Considering the evolving nature of India, its people, its culture and its technology, the India in a Day project aims to get the public involved and tell their stories about living in India in any single day by capturing video footage on their own personal cameras chronicling their experiences in India for 24 hours. The footage is then going to be part of a larger film, directed by Mehta, presented by Google and executive-produced by Ridley Scott and Anurag Kashyap.
The hope is that the project will capture people within the ever-changing and rapidly evolving nature of Indian society — from socializing with friends and family, to career life and love. The video project means to show India's people in their spaces, in their time, living their lives in their own ways.
"Maybe something special is happening that day — you're getting married, moving to a new city…. It's going to be really special, a single day in time, a rapidly changing country, thousands of perspectives" says Richie Mehta. “This project is so personal to me, as I believe film is a perfect way to showcase what makes India so extraordinary,” added Mehta. “I hope people take this opportunity to be honest, fun, and revealing. To dispel the myths of India — or confirm their truths. It will be a thrill to discover.”
Those whose footage makes it into the finished film will be credited as a co-director. The pic reps the first fully user-generated feature-length documentary shot in a single day in India. The film is scheduled for release in 2016.
“India in a Day offers a unique opportunity for anyone and everyone across India to grab a camera or a phone and get out there and capture something,” commented Ridley Scott in a statement. “It doesn’t matter how small or personal it is — from riding a bike to calling your mum. It just simply needs to bear witness to what life is like in today’s India — that’s magical enough.”
"Film anything, make it personal, make it your point of view! Tell us what you love, what you hate, what worries you, what you hope for, what you want to change," says Anurag Kashyap.
