The red carpet rolled out, welcoming the Bollywood family, at Macau for IIFA Awards 2013.
The IIFA weekend sarted with the downpour of bollywood stars in Macau. Taking a cue from Hollywood's walk of fame, the 14th edition of International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards kickstarted today with Bollywood actors Abhishek Bachchan and Shahid Kapoor putting their hand impression on a cemented star-shaped slab. Abhishek Bachchan who has performed at several IIFAs in the past will also graced the IIFA stage, having given his first international performance at IIFA 2005 in Amsterdam.
As reported in Deccan Chronicle, “The screaming fans, the perfect welcome and love from all involved makes this home. I am looking forward to burning up the stage at the Awards night. I am thrilled to be back in Macau for the IIFAs. IIFA Macau rocks!”: Abhishek Bachchan.
Along with the impressive line-up of performances by the biggest stars in the Indian Film Industry, IIFA 2013 will also see a host of prominent personalities attend the prestigious Weekend including Shahrukh Khan, Irrfan Khan, Vidya Balan, Anil Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Arjun Rampal, Shardha Kapoor, Dia Mirza, Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Huma Quereshi, Jacqueline Fernandez, Shabana Azmi, Aditya Roy Kapur, Javed Akhtar and Parineeti Chopra among others.
Also performing at the IIFA Awards will be one of Bollywood’s most iconic leading ladies, Madhuri Dixit. Known for her iconic dance moves, Madhuri is preparing to make her IIFA debut this year. The acclaimed actress who has been in the industry for almost three decades will perform to a montage of the most unforgettable songs of her career.
Speaking on her upcoming performance,Madhuri Dixit-Nene told NDTV, “I have never been to an IIFA before and I’m very excited to be making my performance debut on the IIFA stage. I think that it a great fit especially since we’re celebrating ‘100 years of Indian Cinema’. I am thrilled to perform for my fans from Hong Kong and Macau.”
With a focus on ‘100 years of Indian Cinema’ as the theme for this year’s celebration, Madhuri, who is an accomplished dancer, will recreate the magic of cinema as she takes the audience down memory lane with her most memorable numbers.
The biggest superstar of Indian Cinema, Shahrukh Khan will play host at the upcoming 14th IIFA Awards at The Venetian Macao along with Shahid Kapoor. On the 6th of July, Shahrukh will bring his signature style to the IIFA stage along with Shahid to host the 14th edition of the prestigious Awards. The two stars will join forces as they enthrall audiences with their upbeat commentary leading fans into throes of laughter. Shahrukh Khan last hosted IIFA in the picturesque city of Amsterdam in 2005.
The Expendables 2 star Jean-Claude Van Damme is on his third trip to IIFA Awards this year, held at Macau and the actor is scouting for some Indian talent to work on his next international venture,Luxury Meets Justice.
"India has great actors and actresses and it is a great country. We should be honoured to have Indian actors in our film.," said the 52-year-old action star. "We are going to make a film Luxury Meets Justice and India is a big market and should be a part of it," he added.
Barfi and Gangs of Wasseypur embark the new age cinema for bollywood. They compete for the Best film category at IIFA this year. Katrina Kaif, Kareena Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, the leading ladies of Bollywood are up against each other for the Best Actress IIFA Award.
Sridevi with husband Producer, Boney Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit on IIFA Green Carpet 2013
Madhuri Dixit looked every bit the diva in this ethnic number. Sridevi was accompanied with her producer hubby Boney Kapoor. She looked ravishing. Neha Dhupia was her experimental self, Dia Mirza looked radiant with her beau, but we really liked Gauhar Khan’s look for the evening.
The gentlemen chose black or grey – Arjun Kapoor, Ayushmann Khurrana, Sonu Sood, Neil Nitin Mukesh (again the Johnny Bravo look is a big NO!), Anurag Basu, Zayed Khan sported black while Prabhu Deva and Anupam Kher wore grey suits. Boman Irani and Vir Das certainly were in a funny mood as they were photographed in turban – guess its an attire for one of their gags. Anurag Basu was practicing his post awards smile and wore his heart on his sleeve quite literally.
