The Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce (ICCC) has organized a first-of-its-kind forum to scrutinize the economic aspect of collaboration between India and Canada.
The objective of the Canada-India Film & Television Forum is to promote Canada-India collaboration in the production of film and television.
The event includes industry representatives from both the countries who will explore areas like the regulatory framework, the institutional avenues and support available to filmmakers and television companies in Canada and India.
The event will take place on Nov. 29, 2013 at the Pearson Convention Centre, 2638 Steeles Ave E, Brampton, Ontario from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The registration fee for members is $25.00 (CAD) + 13 % HST and for non-members it's $30.00 (CAD) + 13 % HST.
The forum is being organized in recognition of the entertainment industry's significant presence in both the countries. According to the ICCC website, the sector contributes over 20.4b CAD to the national GDP, while in India it contributes 640m USD to the economy.
Despite the impressive figures, the association between the two countries hasn't progressed as much as it should have due to the absence of a co-production treaty. As an expected solution to this gap, the two governments initiated dialog about Audiovisual Treaty on Coproduction in 2010, which is expected to be signed soon.
Consequently, the forum seeks to create a platform where film and t.v. professionals can come together and discuss their insights so that the industry can be better understood.
