Bimini Bay Resort is also the third resort in Bimini to become a shark-free marina. Shark-Free Marinas is an organization trying to reduce worldwide shark mortality and businesses around the world are joining for a great cause. Even celebrities such as Alec Baldwin, Nigel Barker and Bill Maher are joining the movement to encourage the safety of a threatened species and help save lives.
In addition to reducing shark attacks, they are trying to increase awareness of the need to protect sharks. Anyone fishing is no longer allowed to bring any species of sharks into a shark-free marina. Whether it is for photographs, cleaning or any other means, sharks are not allowed on the marinas.
