Hair
Everyone wants shiny, strong healthy hair, but at times your shampoo may not be doing all it’s meant to do. Humidity, sweat and heat can make your hair limp. That’s when home remedies come in to pick up the slack.
– Avoid hot water as it strips away the natural oils of your hair
– Try to limit washing your hair to every two or three days and let natural oils replenish your hair
– Prevent chlorine damage by applying conditioner to your hair before jumping into the pool
Recipe
Dairy products like sour cream and plain yogurt can help reverse the damage of styling and air pollution. "Lactic acid gently strips away dirt, while the milk fat moisturizes," says Lisa Belkin, author of The Cosmetics Cookbook. Belkin recommends this recipe: Massage 1/2 cup sour cream or plain yogurt into damp hair and let sit for 20 minutes. Rinse with warm water, followed by cool water, then shampoo hair as you normally would. Treatment can be applied every other week.
