Highlights from Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2013

The ultimate Indian fashion trade week celebrated its 21st edition on the runway. Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Autumn-Winter 2013 presented by the Fashion Design Council of India showcased 125 designer collections in New Delhi during a week long extravaganza that took place Mar 13th-17th 2013.
A platform for both established and up n comer designers, WLIFW yet again proved to be the perfect arena to showcase designer creativity as well as business opportunities under one roof.
The shows that either caught major media attention or our style savvy eye were:

Mar 13th 2013 Opening Show by Masaba for Satya Paul
Debuting for the renowned label, Masaba showcased the much anticipated f/w 2013 collection titled Old Streets, Neon Lights. The collection first caught the media's eye when they got a sneak peak via Sonam Kapoor at the Femina Womens Awards 2013 press meet. The actress sported the lipstick print saree with a fashion forward peter-pan blouse.
Fantastic print work and love for the sari trademarks of Satya Paul came to life in black n white combos that highlighted a pop of neon colour in either, yellow or pink.

Later during day 1 actress Preity Zinta emerged after being busy with delays on her "Ishkq in Paris" project to walk the ramp for Surily Goel.

"Surily is one of my favourite designers. She is a versatile designer. She intelligently experiment with fabrics and threadwork and truly knows what works best with the women," Preity said, quoting IANS via india.nydailynews.com.
Mar 14th 2013 Tarun Tahiliani
The designer brought an air of spiritualism to his collection with Maha Kumbh. Models walked the runway dressed in sensuous draped pieces from "The Kumbhback Collection." Models wore saffron dresses paired with long braids adorned in flowers. The designer also focused on a ready-to-wear collection specifically targeting the working woman."I have toned down the complex dresses to make it user-friendly. They can be worn within minutes and look very refreshing," said the designer.

Mar 15th 2013 Manish Malhotra
Manish used the power of a star-studded fashion show to present his collection titled 'Threads of Emotions'. Bollywood actors Sidharth Malhotra, Esha Gupta and Jacqueline Fernandez were seen lighting up the stage. Inspired by Punjab, the collection highlights the power of embroidery against vivid colours.

Mar 16th 2013 Geisha Designs by Paras & Shalini
It was a somber Geisha for Paras & Shalini. What strutted down the runway were a lot of black metallics, purple and turquoise shades. Gowns were embellished with gold, silver and jewel coloured beads . Shazahn Padamsee was the showstopper who emerged in a spectacular metallic beaded, fringe gown wearing body tattoo noticeably on the arms and neck.

Mar 17th Wills Lifestyle Grand Finale by Manish Arora.
After a 4 yr absence from Wills Lifestyle Fashion week acclaimed fashion designer Manish Arora brought his stella collection for the grand finale which was greeted with a standing ovation. Inspired by US's Burning Man festival, the designer showcased a collection of futuristic designs to a front row of of Bollywood celebs such as Sonam Kapoor and Neha Dhupia.
