When it comes to avant-garde fashion and creativity, Paris Fashion Week is what springs to mind. From February 26 – March 6, 2013 the city came alive with an extensive f/w 2013 lineup showcasing the crème de la crème in fashion. Below highlights some of the collections that captured our attention.
Feb 28th 2013: Manish Arora.
Mumbai-born fashion designer Manish Arora showcased a colourful printed Ready to Wear Fall-Winter 2013-2014 line that was inspired by a recent trip to the Burning Man festival in the American state of Nevada according to Reuters. The collection displayed digital images of vivid landscapes and clouds with touches of Indian heritage made contemporary with leather turbans and a jewelry collaboration with Amrapali jewels

One of the main highlights and anticipated shows of the week was Alexander Wang's debut collection for French fashion house Balenciaga. The collection featured black and white ensembles that were both wearable and chic, keeping true to the Balenciaga name with a touch of Wang

Mar 1st 2013: Raf Simons's for Christian Dior.
Another crowd puller was Raf Simons's second ready-to-wear show for Christian Dior. Even Bollywood's Chitrangada Singh made an appearance to check out the collection which was a pleasant surprise portraying a softer take on minimalism. Dresses from different decades hit the catwalk in somber colours
such as black, navy against lighter whites and pinks in iconic prints like houndstooth and the feminine peplum shape.

Mar 2nd 2013: Jean Paul Gaultier
Jean Paul Gaultier showcased an urban warrior goddess with luxe leather pieces in an assortment of brown and black shades. A notable eye-catching piece that brought about nostalga from the past was the studded leather cone-bra shirts and a new silhouette for Gautier, maxi skirts and dresses that together made up a mix of tough and soft materials

Mar 4th 2013: Saint Laurent
Hedi Slimane's collection was a total overhaul of the legacy created by Yves Saint Laurent. Pieces that could only be described as high end luxury grunge, took the 90's trend to a prize point that perhaps the alternative girl would not be accustomed to. Plenty of plaid, boho chic and babydoll cuteness paired with bulky outer pieces made up the collection.

Mar 5th 2013: Chanel
Who could forget Karl Lagerfeld's Chanel globe that set the stage for his ready-to-wear collection. The collection of iconic tweed knits against sharp accents of leather leggings and chained accessories collaborating to showcase the chic winter bunny.

Mar 6th 2013: Marc Jacobs's for Louis Vuitton
Supermodel Kate Moss opened up the first show of the last day to everyone's surprise at Marc Jacobs's Louis Vuitton show. The British supermodel was seen wearing a short black wig on the runway, highlighting the shows "decadent glamour". The retro inspired collection, made up of metallic embroidered dresses, were polished off with fur embellishments.
