Raise a toast and let your nails take the spotlight this New Year's Eve with the hottest colours of the season.
Nails have certainly been in the spotlight as of late. From dark, vampy colours and sharp, pointed shapes to bold prints and individual contrasting nails, it seems your manicurist has been working overtime these days. But it’s time to give her some much needed time off, or at least relieve her of the pressure of “making a statement."
Nails are taking a step down from the fashion forefront this spring, so you can ease up on the dark tones and detailed patterns. Instead, nail trends are shifting toward a more natural shape, paler tones and softer patterns.
This season, polish is all about subtle colours such as nudes and pastels or mega shine like metallics and shimmering top coats. For those with notice-me tastes, don’t worry, you can still play with texture and pattern. It’s just in a more subtle way this spring.
Try painting a lace-like floral in a soft way reminiscent of airbrushing. Or sport more than one pastel hue at a time by blending it in a layered ombé effect. Go super simple with a modern, updated French manicure, or wear your nails natural with a clear topcoat or a quick buff.

Fortunately, spring’s hottest nail trends don’t require an appointment with the city’s top manicurist. You can find great drugstore products that’ll help you get the look at home.
