Beauty Tips To Achieving Hannah Simone's Look
Hannah Simone arguably tops the list of South Asian actresses who have made their mark on an international platform. She went from being a fashion model to a MuchMusic VJ to securing the major role of Cece in the award-winning (not to mention hilarious) TV series New Girl.
Simone has so much style in the show, but in real life, it’s even better. And her makeup is always right on point. The actress made a recent appearance at the Vogue launch for the new Tory Burch watch collection. As usual, her look was elegant and sophisticated. Here are some tips on how you can recreate it.
Face: Clear, Smooth Complexion
Start with creating the perfect canvas. After moisturizing, apply a primer to help fill in pores and fine lines. Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer is always a foolproof choice, but Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser comes in at a lower price point and works just as well.
Instead of a heavy liquid foundation, use a B.B. cream for a more natural and luminescent complexion. If you need a little extra coverage, follow up with a powder. I personally like MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation. It covers really well but doesn’t feel heavy or cakey.
To get Simone’s rosy cheeks, pick a warm coral shade of blush, like Benefit CORALista or Laura Mercier Second Skin Cheek Colour in Lush Nectarine. Apply it along your cheekbone and the apples of your cheeks, and add a touch on your chin.
Eyes: Classic Cat Eye
Using black liquid liner, draw a line above the upper lash line that’s thin on the inner corner of the eye and gets thicker as you get to the outer corner. Then use a black kohl eyeliner pencil along the inner rim of your lower lashline. I use Marcelle Kajal Kohl Eyeliner in Blackest Black. Next, curl your lashes and finish with black mascara, focusing more on extending the lashes on the outer corners of your eyes.
Lips: Coral
The trick is to match your lipstick to your blush colour, so look for peachy coral shades, like Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Natural in Iridescent Icy Coral or Too Faced La Crème Color Drenched Lipstick in Juicy Melons. Just make sure you use a lip liner first to keep your lips defined and to avoid bleeding or feathering into the lines around your mouth.
To create Simone’s matte lip effect, apply your lipstick of choice and then tear a small square from one ply of Kleenex. Place the thin piece of tissue on top of your lips and, using a fluffy brush, lightly dust over the tissue with a loose translucent powder. When you move the tissue, you’ll notice that your lips will look less glossy. To go even more matte, dust a little more powder directly on your lips. Make your lips pop even more by adding a touch of highlighter on your cupid’s bow (that little indent above the middle of your upper lip.)
