One of fashion’s elite launches his first-ever line of cosmetics.
Marc Jacobs has already conquered runways with his fashion pieces, not to mention his line of gorgeous handbags, shoes and accessories. Now the iconic fashion designer is taking over the beauty scene with his new line of cosmetics.
The Marc Jacobs Beauty collection, which was launched earlier this month, features over 100 products ranging in price from $18 to $78. It includes all of the basic essentials for your face, eyes, lips and nails, plus application brushes.
“I see beauty in many things,” Jacobs stated in a press release, “and I am attracted to all sorts of imperfection, to style, to confidence or experimentation. It’s unexpected and surprises you.”
It was only a matter of time before the fashion guru made the transition into beauty—after all, he’s already launched a successful line of fragrances (with beautifully designed bottles, might I add.)
Jacobs had a hand to play in every aspect of the collection’s development, including the classy, sleek black and silver packaging.
When I first heard that Marc Jacobs was entering the world of cosmetics, I’ll admit I was a little skeptical about how the collection would fare against the more established beauty brands.
So, I decided to go to Sephora—where the line is being sold—to look at some of the products myself. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised.
My favourite part of the collection was probably the three products that work just as well for men and women, which is great because, let’s be honest, a lot of men could use a little grooming too.
The three unisex products are:
Remedy Concealer Pen (yes, it’s for men too) for $39
Lip Lock Moisture Balm ($24)
Brow Tamer Grooming Gel ($24).
I also really liked the Lovemarc – Lip Gel ($30). I don’t wear lipstick very often because I have a habit of biting it off. But this formula felt so comfortable on that it didn’t even feel like I was wearing anything more than a lip balm.
Lovemarc – Lip Gel ($30)
And it had just enough pigment that the colour actually stood out against my darker skin, but without looking too flashy or pasty. The Lip Gel comes in 16 different shades, from dark berries to warm nudes.
My favourite is Have We Met?—it’s a subtle pinkish-coral shade with just a hint of shimmer, which gives it a great finish.
Highliner – Gel Crayon Style Eye-Con No. 7 – Plush Shadow
A couple other notable pieces are the waterproof Highliner – Gel Crayon in Deep Navy ($25) and the Style Eye-Con No. 7 – Plush Shadow in The Tease ($59).
The Marc Jacobs Beauty collection is now available at Sephora stores and online through Sephora or www.marcjacobs.com. Trust me, it’s definitely worth at least checking out.
