Mental illness can affect anybody. It should come as no surprise that many celebrities live with mental illness too.
Here are 10 Hollywood and Bollywood celebs with illnesses you might not have known about.
1. Zayn Malik

The popular singer recently cancelled a show due to an anxiety attack. He took to social media to give a heartfelt account of the incident and his decision to cancel.

After having torn his muscles while shooting, King Khan was forced into a long recovery period that triggered depression, which he still struggles with from time to time. Thankfully, the Bollywood megastar healed up and bounced back, wiping out the mental fog.
3. Angelina Jolie

Jolie's mind lapsed into suicidal and homicidal territory in the '90s. She sought professional help and was diagnosed with presumptive borderline personality disorder. She said in 2008, “My mother had just passed away … I felt I was going into a very dark place, and I wasn’t capable of getting up in the morning, so I signed up for something that would force me to be active.”
4. Manisha Koirala

After a bad marriage and other strggles, Manisha suffered from acute clinical depression. She exposed her illness to the world and even sought help on social media.

One of the most handsome and winning football (soccer) players in the world admitted to the public that he suffers from obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). He just has to keep everything neat, tidy and in a straight line or in pairs. The three fridges in his house are symmetrically coordinated down either side.

Bollywood beauty Parveen Babi was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia and severe depression. It got so bad that she eventually took her own life.

He is the most decorated Olympian of all time, yet the focus he needed to train himself into a world-caliber level didn’t come easy. Phelps was diagnosed with ADHD when he was a kid. He checked himself into rehab in October 2014 after a DUI arrest.

Another celeb with OCD, Theron has even lain awake at night wondering if there’s clutter in her cabinet. She calls it “organizational compulsions.”

The actress has spoken to her fans about her illness and opened up about her daily struggles with depression. She has even established a mental health centre to help people in a similar boat.

The British comedian suffers from ADHD and bipolar disorder. Inattentiveness, impulsiveness and extreme mood swings plague his days. And as a kid, he suffered from bulimia, which triggered his depression and developed an eating disorder, which he eventually overcame.
