Stars of Brit Comedy Amar Akbar & Tony Hit the Premiere in London's West End
The British independent comedy Amar Akbar & Tony made its premiere in London on April 9 at Cineworld Haymarket in London’s West End.
The star-studded cast, which consists of Rez Kempton (Amar), Martin Delaney (Tony), Karen David (Meera), Laura Aikman (Samantha), Amrita Acharia (Richa), Goldy Notay (Sonia) and Meera Syal (Honey), were all in attendance.
Other celebs who came out to support the film included Kevin Bishop, Michelle Collins, Rebecca Grant, Sunny and Shay Grewall, Mathew Lewis, Gemma Oaten, Seema Pathan, Nikesh Patel, Rishi Rich and Fiona Wade.
The Brit Indie that's been garnering a lot of buzz is set to release nationwide in the United Kingdom on Friday, April 17. The romantic comedy drama depicts the lives of three childhood friends in multicultural London. Its title is inspired by the 1970s Bollywood hit Amar Akbar Anthony and also "takes in a spiritual influence from the film." says director Atul Malhotra.
What can viewers expect from the flick? The film is a comic take on the exploration of ambition and friendship between the lads. Imagine three guys from different cultural backgrounds in the hub of London. A Sikh, a Muslim and an Irish Catholic all aim to take stock of their lives from the various predicaments they face. There's Amar, with a promising legal career that gets derailed; Akbar, the smooth-tongued, ambitious charmer who's able to make acute observations on life; and Tony, who constantly finds himself in love with the wrong woman.
The film will show at select cinemas from April 17, 2015:
