Trampoline Fun
Bored of the same old bowling, paintballing and rock climbing? Does the thought of another laser tag session with your friends make you yawn? Perhaps it's time to revisit your childhood memories of jumping on your parents’ bed. And no, we don’t mean literally jumping on their bed.
Visit an indoor trampoline park! Picture a large, open warehouse with the floor made entirely of springy mats for you to bounce your heart out. And don’t worry about injuries. The side walls are also made of bouncy material, so you can jump from one mat to another or bounce off a wall and back onto the floor.
Indoor trampoline parks are large, consisting of approximately 50,000 square feet of interconnected trampolines. Along with some courts allocated for pure bouncing fun, other courts enhance regular sports with games such as trampoline zero-gravity basketball, 3-D dodgeball and foam dive. Enjoy a game of volleyball while bouncing high, or play badminton at amazing heights off the ground. The possibilities are endless!
Parks are designed for all ages, for every group. Separate rooms are allocated for underage children, “open areas” for general bouncing fun, and more specific areas designed for particular sports. No matter your fitness level, there will be something there that suits your needs. The various rooms can be rented for birthday parties, an indoor activity for a big group of friends or the next office team-building retreat. Imagine yourself as the next lead of a Cirque Du Soleil troupe as you bounce off the walls and give acrobatics a shot. (But also be very aware of your limitations!)
And for those with fitness concerns, trampoline exercise might just be the new workout regimen you need! A 10-minute bounce is equivalent to a 30-minute run, as the spring takes away a lot of the impact of hard surfaces such as roads and treadmills. A high “rebound” on a large trampoline has offers cardiovascular, fitness and health benefits. Every time your body jumps, abdominal muscles flex and release, resulting in a more toned stomach and abdominal core. Buttocks, legs and thighs get a full workout with every bounce, and you can add ankle weights for additional resistance. Round it off by adding hand weights for a complete cardio workout. This simple aerobic activity will boost your metabolism and immune system, and give your vital organs a good push.
Exercising on a trampoline is relatively low-impact (taking almost 80% of the stress off weight-bearing joints) compared to other high-octane workouts such as jumping rope, running or swimming. So it is unlikely to have any negative effects on joints. It is a great alternative for seniors, children, physically challenged people or people looking to start a workout regimen for the first time. It can also help boost the removal of toxins and other harmful substances from the body. Trampolining increases oxygen capacity and circulation to tissues, strengthens the heart, tones and firms muscles and improves energy and general your sense of well-being, and — above all — it's fun! It’s a win-win for everyone!
Many trampoline parks offer aerobics and workout classes specific to rebounding exercises. No matter which part of your world you live in, there are bound to be wall-to-wall trampoline parks close by.
