Bollywood actor nabs plum role on hit American television show.
Priyanka Chopra’s not the only one crossing over to Hollywood.
Actor Neil Nitin Mukesh is the latest Bollywood import to make his foray into American television, with a starring role on Game of Thrones.
Mukesh will appear in the long-running drama’s sixth season, based on the renowned “Song of Ice and Fire” books by George R.R. Martin.

Mukesh, reportedly the first Indian actor to star on the show, told the Times of India that he nabbed the part with the help of Greg Powell, the show’s stunt director.
Powell’s work can be seen in blockbusters Avengers: Age of Ultron, Fast and Furious 6, and the Harry Potter series.
He also happened to be the action director on Mukesh’s recent flick, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (PRDP), alongside co-actors Sonam Kapoor and Salman Khan.
Powell saw how well Mukesh performed in the intense action scenes for PRDP and offered him the Game of Thrones role.
“[Greg Powell] has directed two sword-fighting sequences in PRDP for which I had to train for over a month in order to get the stance and wrist movements right,” says Mukesh.
“He seemed pretty impressed with all the hard work I put in and made the offer when we were shooting for the climax scene a few months ago."

Mukesh has already been preparing for the role, without even realizing it. He says he’s a huge Game of Thrones fan and that his upcoming role won’t be a far cry from the character he just played in Prem Ratan Dhan Payo — both characters are royal and both are involved in combat.
HBO has yet to confirm Mukesh’s casting.
Season Six of Game of Thrones airs in 2016 on HBO.
