March Brings Bollywood Moviegoers Some Fresh New Plots: Drama, Action, Real Life Inspiration & Sex
Unlike February, the month of love, March brings Bollywood movie lovers new delights, promising viewers some much-needed freshness — a step away from the tried, tested and boring! The three must-watch films highlighted below guarantee drama, action, real-life inspiration and sex! Everything we love!
NH10
Starlet Anushka Sharma has been giving us power-packed performances since she stepped onto the scene with her first film, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. After her stellar performance in box office hit PK earlier this year, Anushka returns to the big screen in NH10. Without giving much away, we can tell you that the film relays the story of Meera after she's attacked by a group of unknown men. She finds herself in a similar situation involving an innocent girl and dangerous men ready to kill.
We're used to seeing Anushka romanced by some of Bollywood's famous leading men, but yet again the actress is out to prove her mettle, paired with an unknown male lead, Neil Bhoopalam. As you may remember, Anushka starred alongside Ranveer Singh, a newcomer himself then, in Band Baaja Baarat in 2010 and stole the limelight, carrying the film to success without the support of an established male lead. Let's see if she's able to prove herself once again in NH10 with what looks like it could be another award-winning performance for the young actress.
TIGERS
TIGERS premiered at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) to roaring applause. The film unveils the real-life story of Syad Aamir Raza, a salesman for a multinational corporation in Pakistan who blew the whistle on a tragic baby food scandal. The film stars none other than Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi in the lead role — who, for the first time in his career, portrays a character based on a real-life individual. Having seen this film myself at TIFF, I can promise you that you'll not be disappointed. A complex real-life incident is broken down into a gripping tale that will leave you at the edge of your seat — right to the very end. A must-watch!
HUNTERRR
Okay, it's time for some sex! And just when you think Bollywood has skirted around the issue and danced around the trees enough, March gives us Hunterrr. The film is from the comedy genre and is written and directed by Harshavardhan Kulkarni. It features Gulshan Devaiah, Radhika Apte and Sai Tamhankar in lead roles. The story revolves around an unassuming sex addict and his lustful journey in life. Did you ever think we'd see a Bollywood film about sex addiction? No, right! I urge you to welcome Hunterrr into your free time with open arms this March.
From the look of the trailer, you can see the film provides a much-needed dose of comic relief and just the right amount of entertainment. While the film doesn't boast big names or a killer soundtrack, let's hope its story — which is refreshing, given what we're used to — is enough for it to find appreciation … even if only among a small group of filmgoers.
