Actress, model, TV host, philanthropist and social activist, Lisa Ray, dazzled at the first annual Canadian Screen Awards held in Toronto on March 3. From her hair to her shoes, Ray's look was classic and elegant, just like the Canadian beauty herself. To get the inside scoop on Lisa's beauty prep, ANOKHI had the chance to chat with the experts who got her ready for the red carpet: Lora Spiga, official makeup artist for Lancôme, and hairstylist Michael Medeiros, L'Oréal Professionnel Artist of Fiorio Group.
WORKING WITH LISA RAY:
Lora Spiga, Makeup Artist: She was lovely! She is easygoing. She knows what she likes. She is a beautiful confident woman and it was very easy and lovely to work with her.
Michael Medeiros, Hair Stylist: She is very easygoing and someone like Lisa is not hard to make beautiful- she is a natural beauty.
THE LOOK:
Makeup: Lisa described it as retro! It was a fabulous smokey eye, a really contoured cheek and a nude lip. Lisa said she loves a smokey eye and a nude lip.
Hair: Soft curls, lots of volume and body, but not too polished.
THE INSPIRATION:
Makeup: Her outfit and Lisa herself.
Hair: A Victoria's Secret curl- something sexy and messy, but still polished.
THE PRODUCTS:
Makeup: Lancôme Artliner in Black for cat like eyes; Lancôme Blush Subtile Palette for contouring and Lancôme Color Design in Pale Lip for that gorgeous nude lip!
Hair: L'Oréal Professionnel tecni.art Fresh Dust for texture and to boost the roots and help hold the curl. L'Oréal Professionnel Infinium Lumiere spray to add hold and set the curl. L'Oréal Professionnel tecni.art Crystal Gloss to add extra shine.
HOW TO GET THE LOOK AT HOME:
Makeup: Whenever you're doing a smokey eye, do the eye first. Always use shadow base. I like Lancôme Aquatique, it makes the shadow stay well. To contour the cheeks, with an angled brush, use a medium shade to intensify the outer corner of the cheek and then highlight the inner corner with a light shimmer.
Hair: Separate hair into six large sections. Curl each section with a curling iron, then roll each section back up and pin it into a pin curl. Let it sit for approximately 10 minutes. Then take hair down, spray it, and shake it out.
FAVOURITE RED CARPET TRENDS THIS AWARDS SEASON:
Makeup: Cheeks! Contoured cheeks with a pop of that beautiful apricot colour.
Hair: I personally love the soft curl. Something beautifully effortless-looking that can be worn down like Lisa or thrown up into a chic updo!
