Back In The Spotlight: Charlie Sheen Reveals Exclusive Details About His Longtime Secret
Entertainment Nov 18, 2015
Popular for his previous leading role on the sitcom Two and a Half Men, Charlie Sheen is back in the spotlight, opening up about recent HIV rumours.
The American actor made headlines in 2011 when he became notorious for drug and alcohol abuse and prostituion scandals. Sheen was eventually fired by CBS and Warner Bros. from his Two and a Half Men role and replaced by Ashton Kutcher in March of that year.
Sheen shocked the world again. This time, the scandalous Hollywood celeb admitted to HIV rumours yesterday and revealed he is in fact HIV-positive on the show Today.
In the Interview with Today, Sheen emotionally opened up about the diagnosis. "It's a hard three letters to absorb. It's a turning point in one's life."
The 50-year-old actor said he made the announcement to end a smear campaign and extortion efforts. "I have to put a stop to this onslaught, this barrage of attacks and sub-truths, and very harmful and mercurial stories that are about me threatening the health of so many others that couldn't be further from the truth," Sheen said.

Sheen claimed that he only shared his diagnosis with people who he trusted, that were close to him, but found himself paying up to $10 million in extortion fees. He hoped that appearing on Today would stop those pay-outs.
Sheen told Today that he was diagnosed with the virus roughly four years ago, but is unsure of how he contracted it.
"It started with what I thought was a series of crushing headaches. I thought I had a brain tumor. I thought it was over," Sheen told Today.
The actor opened up to the day-time talk show, explaining that he currently has an undetectable amount of the virus in his blood and none of his sexual partners have contracted the disease from him.

Sheen's former pornstar girlfriend was not impressed. Shortly after Sheen made his announcement about being HIV-positive, his ex-girlfriend, Bree Olsen, sat down with Howard Stern, telling the Radio DJ that Sheen did not reveal his sexual status to her.
Immitating Sheen, Olsen said to Stern, "I'm clean, I'm clean."
The 29-year-old told Stern that she found out about Sheen's diagnosis at the same time as everyone else.
"I am so upset. I couldn't be more angry. I'm shaking. I have been crying. To think that someone could do that to me," Olsen told Stern.
In the hype of it all, Olsen luckily tested negative to HIV.
The couple dated when Olsen was 24 years old, during the time Sheen had a huge public meltdown, involving tiger blood and the viral hashtag #winning. The relationship ended in April 2011.
