Aunty Pakistan Tells It Like It Is!
There’s a new crusader in Twitter town and she’s taking no prisoners! Armed with a sharp wit and blunt honesty, Aunty Pakistan has taken social media by storm.
From misogyny and sexism to patriarchy and rape culture, the account has been on a roll over the past week.
Combining snark with a hefty dose of truth Aunty Pakistan’s tweets range from hilarious to poignant.
And despite the heavy veil of sarcasm, the tweets clearly address some very real issues for women across the South Asian sub-continent and beyond. The account seems to be voicing out loud, topics discussed in hushed tones and behind closed doors.

Speaking for millions of women who live with daily harassment and assault, Aunty Pakistan schools men on how to behave like decent human beings and demands accountability for their actions. Women however, aren’t spared either and are called out for their awful treatment of each other.
And while many detractors are quick to label her with the usual sexist terms of ‘man hater’ and ‘angry feminist’, she stresses a philosophy of equality and basic respect.
As the account continues to amass followers, it’s helping give vent to opinions and arguments that have otherwise been hushed or overpowered. And with the female voice having little popular representation, Aunty Pakistan seems to be the newly elected champion of the cause – at least in the twittersphere.
Whether it’s about being hassled by neighbourhood goons, oppressed by the patriarchal powers that be, or being less than kind to your fellow human, she’s got a tweet for that.
