Star-gazers gathered as the red carpet was rolled out for the stars at the Stars for Hope event in Chicago on January 16, 2011. Celebrities such as Glee star Iqbal Theba, Star Trek actor Faran Tahir, The Daily Show’s Aasif Mandvi and Bravo’s Top Chef contestant Malika Ameen attended in support of raising funds for the Pakistan Flood Relief. Tim Lenderking, Director of Pakistan Affairs for the U.S. Department of State, was on hand to deliver a keynote speech that addressed the condition of the environment in Pakistan. Local comedians Adam Guerino and Fawzia Mirza emceed the event that was full of entertainment, including short skits by Faran Tahir and Iqbal Theba. The night also featured a silent auction that included a Glee script and DVD, a private in-home baking class with Malika Ameen and tickets to The Daily Show along with a private tour by Aasif Mandvi that went for a total of $10,000. The night went on to raise more than $40,000 USD for the victims of the disaster through Oxfam America and Karachi Relief Trust.
