Sowing Your Seeds for Success
The concept of failure doesn’t exist in my universe today because I subscribe to the ideology that we ourselves are the curators of our own realities. In mine, there is no failure-based reality, just success. Now I’m not saying that everything I do, or everything that’s done to me, is sunshine and roses; no. I’m just denoting that the multitude of struggles and challenges that I’ve faced along the way have only brought me closer to my truth and that truth is the beacon of light that extinguishes the waterfall of darkness we oftentimes equate to the concept of failure. But unlike Lady Gaga, I wasn’t “born this way” — I evolved this way.
Like many of us, I also used to anchor myself in measuring the outcome of circumstances based on how I could be better today than I was yesterday, thus subscribing to the concept that failure is an option in my reality because without failure how can there be success — you need to know one to know the other, right? As Paramahansa Yogananda once said, "The season of failure is the best time for sowing the seeds of success." That is, it’s during a perceived down time when we are more likely to be tuned into our senses for success because we experience polarized events for the very purpose of recognizing perspective — we know there is light because there is darkness. Similarly, we know there is success because there is failure. So, you may be thinking that based on the above explanation, I am in denial to the fact that failure isn’t a part of my reality because if I subscribe to success, I have to subscribe to failure, right? Wrong! In the past, I knew when I was successful because I based success on benchmarking failure. Then I had an epiphany. I learned, through experiencing this yin and yang methodology for so many years of my life, that there is an experience beyond a tail-chasing polar reality; one of absolution — my reality, curated by me, who chooses only to subscribe to the absolute notion of success.
Similarly, this issue’s OPEN CHEST cover story personality, musical artist and former band member of The Wanted, Siva Kaneswaran, who may be young in years, also subscribes to this absolute ideology, as you’ll find out when you read his story in his own words on page 20. He talks candidly about The Wanted years, his foray into acting, the exciting launch of his solo music career, and why he feels in control, liberated and in a state of absolution today.
