TORONTO, CANADA
Dr. Cabbie fever was high in Toronto the last weekend of August at an event hosted by Lilly Singh (a.k.a Superwoman) celebrating the Indo-Canadian film. Dr. Cabbie is the story of an unemployed doctor-turned-cab driver who becomes a local hero when he converts his taxi into a mobile clinic. Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, co-producer of Dr. Cabbie, flew in from India to launch the music of his first international production. Vinay Virmani, who plays the title role in the film, joined Salman Khan and co-producer Ajay Virmani and other cast and crew, including Kunal Nayyar, Adrianne Palicki, Tia Bhatia and newcomer Isabelle Kaif, to interact with the audience. The crowd took in and danced to the live performances of the film’s music by well-known Canadian artist Raghav, Manj Musik (the former lead vocalist of the world famous group RDB) and Punjabi-Bollywood urban artist Nindy Kaur. The next day, the red carpet premier of the film took place at the Scotiabank Theater. Khan was so impressed by director Jean-François Pouliot’s work that he decided to take in the film two days in a row.
