Brand Diversification:
ANOKHI Launches A New Product
How wonderful it feels to make good on a promise made. I’m sure you’ll agree that the sense of accomplishment and relief that comes with this make it all worthwhile. I stated in my ‘Publisher’s Message’ of Fall 2006 that in 2007, “ANOKHI (will) unveil an extension of our brand with you in mind”. So, it gives me great pleasure to announce the official launch of ANOKHI clothing and accessories at FUSIA boutique at The Bay, along with New York fashion designer and ANOKHI fashion columnist, Alia Khan. The boutique appropriately opens for business on May 2nd during Canada’s South Asian Heritage Month at The Bay’s flagship location on Queen Street in Toronto, the third largest department store location in the world!
This initiative brings with it four firsts: The launch of ANOKHI clothing, the launch of Alia Khan in Canada, the launch of FUSIA, a South Asian boutique for women at The Bay, and the launch of a South Asian bridal service at The Bay.
ANOKHI will be offering as its first installment, a clothing line that has eastern embroidery on western constructions – moderately priced, fashion forward and hip. The collection includes baby tees, jackets, skirts, pants, capris and shorts, as well as bags, belts and jewelry. The Alia Khan label is moderate to high end, and a more formal collection, predominantly comprising of dresses, tops and skirts, using eastern materials and embellishments, combined with her signature cuts in a western format. So, whether you’re going clubbing or to a cocktail party, I’m confident that there will be something for you at FUSIA Boutique. For those of you who are looking to get married, the boutique will be offering a one stop bridal clothing service for the entire trousseau. Alia herself will be flying in from New York on a monthly basis for pre-arranged consultations to ensure that your day is as special and unique as you are.
To find out more about the FUSIA boutique initiative, read the article on page 22. For inquiries on the ANOKHI and Alia Khan collections, as well as the bridal service at FUSIA, please email us at [email protected]. For those of you who live outside of the Greater Toronto Area or Canada, the collections will be made available to you online at www.FusiaBoutique.com this summer, so watch out for the announcement in the next issue of ANOKHI.
ANOKHI Outreach Program
As you all know, ANOKHI has been involved on many levels with community and mainstream events in Canada, the U.S., and on a limited basis, in the U.K. since November of 2002. This year, we have decided to make our involvement a lot more consistent with an outreach program in all three markets. Expect more ANOKHI hosted and sponsored events and more accessibility to our team, in general. With this, comes the expansion of our events pages in the magazine as we cover a multitude of activity that is relevant to our readers. This issue has us, amongst others, at New York’s Fashion Week, the world premiere of GURU, the closing night reception of the Human Rights Watch’s fourth annual International Film Festival, and ANOKHI’s fourth anniversary and first “Sexy & Successful” awards ceremony. Check it all out from page 132 onwards.
If you are part of an event that you would like ANOKHI to get involved in through sponsorship or coverage, please contact us at [email protected].
Until next time,
Be UNIQUE. Be ANOKHI.
