JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA
From April 2 to 5, 30 designers showcased their Spring/Summer collection at the South Africa Fashion Week held at Johannesburg’s Crown Plaza. The theme for the opening show was Great Hair is Always in Fashion and models walked the ramp with trendy hairstyles. The event was in partnership with premium international hair care brands Motions and Tresemmé. Nthato Mashishi from Motions and Matthew Mansoor, the top local Tresemmé stylist, worked their magic developing distinctive hair looks that complemented the designers’ signature collections. The fashion week also innovatively collaborated with Skip, a brand that specializes in fabric care. The Skip Collection, featuring works of designer label Rubicon, had 40 per cent of the dresses washed in Skip Liquid prior to the show, proving that some of the most precious garments can be kept beautiful by a brand that cares. Other top South African designer labels included Jacques van der Watt (Black Coffee), Terrence Bray, Gert-Johan Coetzee, Albertus Swanepoel, Claire Mackenzie and Larisa Moda. Celebrities who walked the ramp included actresses Jay Anstey and Hayley Owen, TV presenter Minnie Dlamini and Miss Earth South Africa 2012 Tamerin Jardine.
