The Punjabi International Film Festival and International Film Festival of South Asia was celebrated from May 15 to 19 in Toronto. A mix of 50 feature, short and documentary films were showcased in nine languages. Several films received their North American premiere including films like Jatt James Bond and Romeo Raja (Punjabi), Pied Piper (Hindi), Ghuri (Bengali) and Deswa (Bhojpuri). The festival kicked off with a fashion show where models walked the ramp featuring stylish apparel by Indian label Satya Paul. Prominent attendees included internationally-recognized Indian film legend Kabir Bedi and his friend Parveen Dusanj, Canadian television host Veronica Chail, journalist and TV reporter Nairisha Batada, Maharashtrian film actress Pakhi Hegde, Canadian members of parliament Tim Uppal and Andrew Cash and member of provincial parliament Jagmeet Singh, Punjabi film director Jeet Matharru, Canadian film actor Vinay Virmani, singers Jazzy B, Garry Sandhu, Manj Ral and Mickey Singh, music group Josh, and Broadway performer and singer Krystal Kiran Garib. ANOKHI MEDIA CEO Raj Girn was also present at the festival along with her good friend Bally Takiar.
