The ‘Real’ of it All

There’s a real sense of achievement attached to creating something from the very essence of who you are as the ANOKHI dream team and I have done with ANOKHI and its evolution over the years. The real feat is when others see what you see and accept its authenticity. The knowledge of that alone is what gives real credibility to anything you may aspire to do. I don’t know if I’ve ever expressed how fulfilling it is every time I’m approached by readers of ANOKHI who express how the magazine has enriched their lives in some form or another. It makes my existence feel justified. The journey itself with all of the effort, struggle and sacrifice has integrity because of this, which in turn makes the destination all the more clearer, rewarding and meaningful. Thank you for sharing; it’s truly a blessing I cherish everyday.

This issue’s Open Chest is such a journey of creation of and from self – the real version of self. Daughter of sitar maestro, Ravi Shankar, and sister to multi-Grammy award-winning artist, Norah Jones, Anoushka Shankar reveals her essence and explains how it has translated into creating her new, most out-of-the-box album, Breathing Under Water, a collaborative masterpiece with one of today’s most talented musicians/composers, Karsh Kale. The album is set for release in August, and I’m sure you’ll agree after reading through our conversation on page 110, that Breathing Under Water should be on the top of everyone’s ‘must buy’ list for this season.
