Lights, camera and action! It’s award show season and all eyes are on the red carpet. Hollywood’s finest have shown steady trends with a few standout moments. Here is our trend report and predictions for the run-up to the Oscars!
All That Shimmers
Whether it was beaded or lame, gold was optimal on the red carpet. Lilly Singh rocked it ’70s style in a Nicole Miller Atelier dress. Priyanka Chopra was all glitz and glamour in her custom-made Ralph Lauren. And Victoria Justice was a stunner in a Yousef Al-Jasmi 1920s-inspired flapper mini.
Precious Metals
Ornamental metals with extravagant detailing is a snapshot of what’s to come this Fall 2017. Jennifer Lopez dazzled the paparazzi in an elegant Reem Acra pre-fall, black and jewel dress. A bit much for the People’s Choice Award red carpet but it slayed. Tracee Ellis Ross sparkled from head to toe in Zuhair Murad. While Vanessa Hudgens showed off her killer curves in a form fitting Naeem Khan gown.
Lady in Red
It’s not much of a game changer but a perfect intro for February and fitting for all that’s happening globally. Annalise Basso‘s Bibhu Mohapatra burgundy cape gown packed a fierce punch. Millie Bobby Brown was darling in her poppy red Giorgio Armani. Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner looked gorgeous in Louis Vuitton.
Multicolour Dream
This is a definite breath of fresh air to see on the red carpet. A multitude of colour and the fearlessness of it all created a stand-out moment for these television stars. Michelle Dockery looked glorious in Elie Saab’s technicolour gown. Black-ish star Yara Shahidi’s multicoloured frock by Naeem Khan was trendsetting and timeless.
Pretty in Pink
I am not a big fan of pink as it has a tendency to look Pepto Bismal-ish. Lily Collins made a believer out of me with this princess-inspired Zuhair Murad Couture gown. Sarah LaPointe’s blush tone two piece was playful and chic. Very complementary to Priyanka Chopra’s playfulness on the red carpet.
