It's beach season and we give you the 411 on what’s hot in swimwear and poolside wear. So get ready to up your style game with our fave looks from the runways of India and Sri Lanka.
Athletic pieces combined with soft feminine floral finds win our hearts this summer. Of course, sexy bandage bikinis and lace overalls take the cake when it comes to jaw-dropping trends.
Flowy Trains
One of my favourite trends that has been swimming through some of the top designers’ collections is the flowy dresses attached to the hip and leaves room for skin-baring bikini pieces. At India Beach Fashion Week 2016, Chinar's Couture by Chinar Shinde showcased beautiful flowing blue pieces attached to the hips. At the HSBC Colombo Fashion Week Resort 2016 runway preview, designers Indi and Harare infused their collection with free-flowing trains that we simply cannot get over.

The Bandage Bikini
The bandage bikini trend is one hot trend that oozes poolside charm. You can have your pick from a plethora of designers who have chosen to feature this trend in their collection. Shivan and Narresh seemed to champion of this trend at both the Amazon India Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2016 and at HSBC Colombo Fashion Week Swim 2016. The bandaged trend looks spectacular as it gives an hourglass silhouette, enhancing one’s figure.

Lace Overlays
Lace overalls is a popular trend that is back on the runways. From lace jumpsuit overalls to lace kimonos lace is a summer must-have. This trend was quite visible at Monisha Jaising’s preview at Lakme Fashion Week 2016 and at Payal Jain’s show at Amazon India Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2016.

Caped Crusaders
Our obsession with superheroes doesn’t just end with the movies. Capes have flown onto the runways and leading a few of the must-have swimwear pieces. Designers Shivan and Narresh are big fans of this trend and they incorporated abstract printed capes into their collections at Lakme Fashion Week 2016 and at HSBC Colombo Fashion Week Swim 2016. Designer Farah Sanjana also championed this trend at Lakme Fashion Week with a mixed prints piece.

Printed Kimonos
Kimonos will always be a must-have resort wear. This year many designers have chosen printed kimonos as part of their resort collection. Falguni and Shane Peacock showcased a beautiful tribal print kimono at the India Beach Fashion Week 2016 while Payal Jain went for floral at the Amazon India Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2016.
