Mumbai Jeweler Riddhima Kapoor Sahni Brings A Crisp Aesthetic To The Accessory Space

Riddhima Kapoor Sahni chats with us about her latest passion — her newly launched jewelry line.
Born into Bollywood royalty you would assume the oldest child of Rishi and Neetu Kapoor and the sister of Bolly heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor would naturally have the same acting bug. But for this creative Kapoor, expressing herself as a tangible brand rather than a fictitious on-screen character is how she's marketed herself.
From using her good looks alongside her mother to endorse a jewelry brand in the past, she's now stepped out into the limelight with her very own jewelry line called 'R' Riddhima Kapoor Sahni Jewellery with brand partner Mr. Anuj Kapoor of Punjab Jewellers.
The debut line hosts a collection of girly keepsake charms like a four-leaf clover, heart pendant, the words "I love you," the evil eye, the hamsa hand and more. The pieces are all prettily packaged and nestled on delicate chains with the finishing, personalized touch of Riddhima's 'R' logo fastening. The designs can be purchased as either bracelets or necklaces for everyday use to express the variations in our moods from from day to day.

I had the opportunity to chat with the creative head to ask her about this new venture.
Monika Bhondy: You’ve donned many hats over the years including fashion designer, model and the face of a jewelry line with your mother, Neetu Kapoor. What made you choose to launch your own line now?
Riddhima Kapoor Sahni: I wouldn’t call myself a jewelry person. Ironically I never liked wearing much jewelry. I always wore fun stuff like bracelets and cuffs and that is my on-the-go fun easy wearable jewelry. My brand is who I am as a person and it completely reflects me; the pieces I like, the pieces I wear, that's what 'R' Jewellery by Riddhima Kapoor Sahni is all about.
MB: How have your past experiences helped you with this exciting new venture?
RKS: My mother and I were the face of a popular jewelry brand for many years. Over the years I learnt a lot about branding from them — gemstones, contemporary jewelry, bridal jewelry and much more. It was just so fascinating. That has definitely influenced me and contributed to my creative side. My mother had a vital role to play. I have always looked up to her whether it was her elegance and personal style or her fantastic taste in jewelry.

MB: How do you describe the Riddhima Kapoor Sahni line?
RKS: Delicate yet forceful. Beautiful yet dynamic. Elegant yet convincing.
MB: What was your inspiration for your debut collection?
RKS: My bracelet and pendant collection inspiration comes from being myself — something I would wear everyday, maybe to a casual lunch or an evening out.

MB: How does Riddhima Kapoor Sahni’s charms stand out from others on the market?
RKS: So far we have had a great response from all our clients especially in terms of our finishing and quality. We serve to deliver the best to our clients in the hopes that they appreciate us in the future. We don't necessarily want to stand out, but definitely want our customers to be happy and satisfied with the product.
MB: Which is your favourite, must-have piece from the line?
RKS: I love all my bracelets and my pendants but my personal favourites are the diamond heart charm bracelet from the bracelet collection as well as the arrow pendant chain.

MB: You’ve taken a strong e-commerce approach to reaching your client base. Can you tell us why you opted away from the store front model?
RKS: Fortunately through social media we have been able to reach out to a large clientele. I am extremely overwhelmed with the response we have received however we have tied up with a few stores in Delhi and we are also going to be selling our jewellery online either though our personal website or then through an online portal.
MB: How supportive has your family been with your new venture?
RKS: My family is my lifeline. They have always been supportive for everything I choose to do. My parents, brother, husband and my in-laws are all my support system and I truly appreciate and love them dearly.
MB: Have you had any celebrity endorsements yet?
RKS: My family is filled with brand ambassadors, however I haven't tapped into that just yet.
MB: What can fans expect from the brand in the near future?
RKS: My fans are everything to me and are my actual brand ambassadors. Whenever a client sends me his/her picture adorning 'R' jewellery I make sure it's put up on social media.
