Lakme Winter/Festive and Amazon India Couture Fashion Week 2015 Trend Report: Bridal and Eveningwear

Nov 01, 2015

Fashion is reinvented each season as collections hit the ramp. What’s traditional is now modern or conceptualized into contemporary styles. We take a look at two trends from Lakme Winter/Festive and Amazon India Couture Week 2015

Capes and Lehengas

Whether it’s traditional, vintage or glam, designers Neeta Lulla and Manish Malhotra left me speechless with their reinterpreted style of bridal and evening wear.

Neeta Lulla’s Winter/Festive 2015 collection centered on the modern bride. Lehengas were flared and detailed with intricate zardosi embroidery and embellishments. A colour palette of royal blue, ruby red, emerald green and saffron paired well with cropped capes that exuded drama and elegance.

At Amazon India Couture Week 2015, Manish Malhotra dazzled with his Empress Story collection with hue combinations of burgundy/rose, champagne/green and ice blue/silver. Cape and lehenga ensembles were regal and romantic. Some capes were cropped with jeweled embroidery while others were at floor-length and sheer with paneling. Lehengas showed range with lace styles with floral and beaded details. It was simply perfection.

Draped Trousers

For this season, draped or wide trousers had a strong presence in some collections. During Lakme Winter/Festive 2015, Ridhi Mehra went ultra-glam with her version of the draped pant while Anand Kabra had more of a relaxed feel.

Ridhi Mehra draped styles were fit for evening and red carpet looks. Though the detailing was subtle the overall look was sophisticated.

For Anand Kabra, warm tones and prints were playful and added to the relax feel of the collection. An ombre look was a favourite in the collection.
