Karl Lagerfeld is on a roll. Celebrating 50 years at Fendi (as a creative head), Karl decided to step up his game by announcing the launch of Fendi’s first ever haute couture collection, “Haute Fourrure,” this July. The collection will be presented during Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week. The house of Fendi is known for its creative expression and exquisitely crafted fun furs. With this collection Karl promises to display the riches and royalties of fur like never seen before. Though PETA was quick to condemn the announcement as “haute horreur,” it will be interesting to see what the fourrure collection will offer Fendi’s patrons.
The Gap finally found its way back into Germany by partnering with German fashion e-commerce platform Zalando. Zalando, Europe’s largest online fashion retailer, is now carrying selections from the Gap collections, Gap Kids and Baby Gap. Zalando’s newly curated shopping site, Zalon.de, will also carry the best of Gap and Banana Republic’s collections.
Target collaborated with coveted jewellery designer Eddie Borgo on a limited edition accessory line with an edge of customization. The line allows customers to personalize necklaces and bags with the addition of studs, charms and totems, making the pieces unique. Starting July 12, the collection will be available at select Target stores and online.
From designer collaborations to beauty product launches, H&M has been in news lately for all the right reasons. The Swedish retailer announced the launch of its own line of beauty products in September 2015, ranging from makeup to nail and body products to hairstyling tools. Later this year, an exclusive capsule collection collaboration with Balmain and its creative director Oliver Rousteing is set to launch November 2015. The highly anticipated #HMBalmaination collection is turning into a global movement and will be featured in 250 H&M stores worldwide and online.
Giles Deacon Designs for India
U.K. based designer Giles Deacon decided to tap the potential of the Indian market with his ready-to-wear collection collaboration with Koovs.com. The collection is curated specially for the Indian clientele with colours, prints, cottons and crepes and even includes bags and sunglasses. Defining the collection as chic elegance with a twist, Giles’ collection will retail through the famous e-commerce platform with prices ranging from $7 to $50 CDN.
Finally a standalone showcase for American men's fashion, the CFDA’s New York Men’s Fashion Week is set to take place July 13 to 16 and will showcase spring 2016 collections. The NYMFW runway shows and presentations will be aired online through Amazon Fashion, East Dane and MyHabit along with support from Shinola.
Fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld has his eye set on the true white north. The world-renowned designer is set to design the lobby spaces at the landmark Art Shoppe Lofts + Condos development in Toronto’s Yonge and Eglinton area. The luxurious and futuristic project will feature a 28-storey tower stepping down to a 12 storey mid-rise building of lofts and is scheduled to open in 2020.
