Honesty

There’s something to be said about the sanctity and value of honesty. ''Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind'' – Dr. Suess. But we all know that this can be challenging at times because there are so many dynamics associated with being honest—first to yourself and then to others in your life. But whichever way you look at it, there comes a time in all of our lives where we are faced with making a decision about how we want to live. So honesty is a place we need to make home. Without it, life’s decisions don’t really mean anything, especially when we evaluate our relationships across the board and there is no greater relationship then that which we have with ourselves!

A close second are those lifelong relationships we forge with those around us—our family, friends and associates. This issue of ANOKHI, apart from offering up the usual content that you expect from us, is dedicated to one such relationship—the bond of marriage. We talk about the big day and how to make it an experience worthy of your scrapbook of memories. We give you takeaway pointers as well as honeymoon destinations but we also talk about how to deal with external expectations during the early years, such as the cultural influences that dictate a component of our value system. There’s no getting away from it; the notion of honesty is important and should not be ignored.
