It's that time of year again, when I share my thoughts on a year in reflection—the good, the bad, the ugly, the great. (I always find that the ‘great' follows a challenge of some sort that I've managed to overcome and a lesson is learnt). And I anticipate the next year—where I plan for the good and the great, but prepare for the bad and the ugly. I recently went to dinner with the family, to a well-known Chinese restaurant here in Toronto called Mandarin. At the end of dinner, the wait staff, as always, gave out complimentary fortune cookies which we opened in anticipation of what the future may hold for each of us—it's a bit of fun entertainment at the end of dinner, where we laugh at whoever receives a Confucius proverb that none of us can ever make sense of. This time, as fate would have it, Confucius came knocking on my door. This is what he had to say to me: "I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand."

My interpretation of this, especially at this time of the year and at this point in my life's journey, has me focusing on the key words hear, see, and do—in order to succeed, we must do; in order to do, we must see; in order to see, we must hear. It's funny, but although life has us experiencing it forwards, I can only seem to understand it as I look backwards and hear in order to see, in order to do, in order to garner success—personal, professional and spiritual.

What I hear from last year is that it was a year in preparation for much of what will happen this year. What I see is that the future is bright for ANOKHI. What I do, is to appreciate and acknowledge all those who have helped us succeed as an independent, multimedia, multi-platform brand that has global relevance and ongoing global penetration.

• We are also gearing up to launch the ANOKHI app which will provide free download capabilities for ANOKHI articles and video content and provide the opportunity to stay in touch with the glamorous world of ANOKHI, with access to our most up-to -date content wherever you may be.
